Gerri Smith’s interest in the theatre was established as a young girl at Llanelli Grammar School where they had a strong tradition of drama studies.

Her acting career began in the 70’s when she worked at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff during the hay day of their Post Graduate Drama course which gave amateur, professional and semi-professional actors and directors a chance to work together on a number of projects.

She subsequently worked again at the Sherman Theatre in a professional capacity appearing in several productions and also established her one woman show, taking it to the Detroit International Drama Festival and Dundalk Festival in Ireland.

During a brief ‘resting period’ she joined a corporate hospitality company to perform in a series of murder mysteries for corporate entertainment. In 1990, together with fellow actor Terry Victor, she founded her own highly successful murder mystery company Murder on the Menu. Their concept of cabaret whodunits proved a winner and the company has been successfully running ever since.

During the cabaret content of the murder nights Gerri was continually told she looked and sounded like Vera Lynn and in 1992 she entered the Stars in Their Eyes competition. Her remarkable resemblance to Vera Lynn prompted the producers of the programme to use her for the launch of the 1992 series. Immediately following her Stars in Their Eyes appearance she was invited to close the Richard & Judy "Good Morning" series with her rendition of "We’ll Meet Again". This theme song has been used by many corporate clients to end conferences from afar afield as Glasgow and Venice.

Gerri is an actress with a wide experience of theatre , TV and Cabaret and is able to handle comedy and straight roles equally well. In 1998 she commissioned a musical play on the life of Dorothy Squires, the Welsh singing star and gay icon of the 50’s to 70’s. Her well publicised life and marriage to Roger Moore is chronicled in the play. The climax of the play reproduces the famous Palladium Concert of 1970 when Dorothy Squires hired the London Palladium and played to a capacity audience of loyal fans.
